A new European platform for 3D cultural heritage with contributions from APAC Labs goes live

The 3D-4CH Online Competence Centre in 3D has officially launched, marking a key milestone for Europe’s digital cultural heritage ecosystem. Co-funded by the European Union, the platform provides cultural heritage professionals with a collaborative, accessible environment for working with 3D digitisation, artificial intelligence, and extended reality technologies. 29 partners across EU member states are working together to provide new resources to key stakeholders. The Andreas Pittas Art Characterization Laboratories spearheads the Cyprus Institute’s contributions to the project and platform. Specifically, APAC Labs is part of the development of training courses designed to add to the skillset of cultural heritage professionals in 3D.

The Online Competence Centre is conceived as a living platform — a stable foundation that will continue to grow through community engagement. Rather than presenting a closed system, the platform invites professionals to contribute knowledge, test tools, and help shape its evolution. Developed by a pan-European consortium of museums, universities and technology partners, the 3D-4CH Online Competence Centre supports practical heritage workflows across research, education, conservation and tourism.

Cultural heritage professionals are invited to explore the platform, share expertise and join a growing European community shaping the future of 3D cultural heritage.
