APAC Labs joins VELab-led effort to digitally document and model Cyprus’s architectural heritage through advanced 3D technologies
The Cyprus Institute’s Virtual Environments Lab (VELab) has won a new contract of the Department of Town Planning and Housing, funded by the EU Resilience and Recovery Funds of the Republic of Cyprus.
The aim is to create a database of Cypriot built heritage and architectural construction details. This project involves the digital documentation and Heritage Building Information Modelling (HBIM) representation of heritage across the island.
APAC Labs has a key role and contribution in this effort with our experts being responsible for field documentation, data collection and post-processing for the creation of the 3D models. The data acquisition includes the use of Terrestrial Laser Scanner, Topographic equipment, drone and DSLR cameras. The VELab is responsible for the creation of the HBIM database.
