APAC LABS presents at the Cyprus Association of Rural and Surveying Engineering workshop "Topography without Limits: Latest Equipment and Digital Solutions” features APAC Labs expertise

On the 7th of February, the Cyprus Association of Rural and Surveying Engineers organised a workshop titled “Topography without limits: Latest Equipment and Digital Solutions.”  Marina Faka, member of the Cyprus Association of Rural and Surveyors Engineers, presented on behalf of The Cyprus Institute, sharing case studies from STARC and EEWRC under the title  “Topographic solutions in multidisciplinary subjects: Applications from the Cyprus Institute.” The presentation highlighted how advanced topographic methodologies and digital tools are applied across research fields, demonstrating the value of interdisciplinary collaboration.

Marina’s presentation featured case studies with particular focus on the Kampanopetra project and the collaboration with the Virtual Environments Lab (VeLab). These include the development of digital applications and 3D models for the New Cyprus Archaeological Museum as well as the new project involving Cypriot built heritage of the Department of Town Planning and Housing, funded by the EU Resilience and Recovery Funds of the Republic of Cyprus. The last case study that was presented was about the applications of UAV-Based Surveys for Mapping Mountain Terraces and Olive Orchards from the Water Group of EEWRC.

The workshop also served as an important dissemination opportunity for HERIFORGE, showcasing how digital technologies, data workflows, and innovative methodologies contribute to strengthening the connection between Cultural Heritage and Extended Reality (XR). Engaging with professionals in geospatial engineering reinforces HERIFORGE’s objective of building cross sector dialogue and fostering skills, knowledge exchange, and collaboration across complementary technical domains. By participating in such events, APAC Labs continues to expand its outreach, connect with related professional communities, and promote digital innovation within the broader heritage and technology ecosystem.
