“Titien, Ecco Homo: De Chypre à Chantilly, la science au service de l’art” at the Musée Condé in Château de Chantilly, France highlights the work of the APAC Labs at the global stage
The exhibition “Titien, Ecco Homo: De Chypre à Chantilly, la science au service de l’art” at the Musée Condé, located within the historic Château de Chantilly, highlights groundbreaking research conducted by the Andreas Pittas Art Characterization Laboratories (APAC Labs). The exhibition brings together state-of-the-art scientific investigations carried out by APAC Labs that revealed a previously hidden portrait beneath the surface of a canvas attributed to Titian. The discovery provides new insight into the artist’s creative process and the evolution of the painting.
Additional research was conducted in collaboration with the Centre de Recherche et de Restauration des Musées de France (C2RMF) on another Ecce Homo Titian painting held at the Musée Condé. Together, these studies have led to significant findings that illuminate both the master’s working methods and the practices of his workshop. Visitors to the exhibition are invited to engage in a compelling comparison of the two paintings. Through a combination of stylistic, iconographic, and scientific analysis, the display demonstrates how advanced research techniques can deepen our understanding of historical artworks and reveal hidden aspects of their creation.
“Titien, Ecco Homo: De Chypre à Chantilly, la science au service de l’art” will be on view from 7 March to 14 June 2026 in the Psyche Gallery at the Château de Chantilly. The exhibition at the Musée Condé at the Château de Chantilly was organized in collaboration with the Andreas Pittas Art Characterization Laboratories of the Cyprus Institute and the Centre de recherche et de restauration des musées de France.
