Pengxiao Hao

Pengxiao joined the Science and Technology in Archaeology and Culture Research Center (STARC) of the Cyprus Institute in May 2025 as a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Heritage Science. She holds a B.S. in Materials Chemistry (2013) and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering (2018). Her interest in art and culture led her to transition into the field of cultural heritage conservation.

Prior to joining the Cyprus Institute, she held postdoctoral positions at the Center for Scientific Studies in the Arts at Northwestern University, USA (2019-2021), and the Institute for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage at Shanghai University, China (2021-2024). Her work focused on analytical imaging of artworks and chemical studies of pigment deterioration.

At APAC Labs, she contributes to the chemical analysis of artworks and archaeological artefacts, working closely with colleagues from diverse disciplines to support the interpretation and conservation of cultural objects.
