APAC Labs Participates in the GRAPHIA project

The EU-funded project GRAPHIA aims to build the first comprehensive Social Sciences and the Humanities (SSH) Knowledge Graph. By seamlessly integrating a vast array of disconnected, heterogeneous, and multi-source data into one unified access point, GRAPHIA leverages existing infrastructures and data resources to pave the way for groundbreaking advancements. GRAPHIA aspires to significantly improve SSH data visualisation and analysis capacities, pioneer advanced AI solutions tailored for SSH and develop re-usable, cutting-edge digital tools. The project aims to empower researchers to uncover patterns and insights from unstructured data, illuminating social phenomena and cultural trends with unprecedented clarity.

The Cyprus Institute, represented by STARC’s Andreas Pittas Art Characterization Laboratories, participates in the project with several activities. APAC Labs plays a vital role in GRAPHIA by driving several crucial activities. Our work will be central to developing the SSH Knowledge Graph's architecture and semantic frameworks, as well as in implementing the framework across selected case-studies, including examples from the rich cultural heritage and monuments of Cyprus. These real-world applications will serve as dynamic demonstrations of the innovative instruments, tools, and methods developed throughout the project, effectively bridging the gap between cutting-edge research and practical application.

At its core, GRAPHIA is committed to the ideals of open science and to strengthening the capabilities of EU Research Infrastructures. This dedication not only boosts global competitiveness but also ensures that the benefits of the project have a far-reaching and lasting impact on the research community worldwide.
