In April 2024, the Rathgen-Forschungslabor of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin organized a workshop called “Resilient Cultural Heritage in Times of Climate Crisis” within the framework of the Horizon Europe-funded ARCHE project (Alliance for Research on Cultural Heritage in Europe). The event gathered about 100 policy- and decision-makers, researchers, activists and practitioners from Germany and the surrounding countries, who discussed the impacts of climate change on cultural heritage, but especially the ways in which cultural heritage can provide sustainable solutions to this crisis.
The Cyprus Institute aids in assessing the research and innovation landscape in cultural heritage in Europe and investigating Cyprus's current situation. The APAC Labs team evaluates R&I gaps and needs for the next decade to design a Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) for joint programming to increase heritage awareness and a European sense of belonging. Being part of ARCHE and attending its workshops is an engaging and inspiring opportunity to address the unique aspects of the Cypriot National Heritage ecosystem. The ARCHE events offer numerous discussions that empower Cyprus Institute participants to tackle the specific challenges of Cypriot heritage and contribute to the broader field of cultural heritage preservation.
