APAC contributed to the volume "Breaking Images. Damage and Mutilation of Ancient Figurines''

PAC Labs researcher Valentina Vassallo contributed to the volume "Breaking Images. Damage and Mutilation of Ancient Figurines" edited by Gianluca Miniaci with the chapter "Broken collections: A 3D approach to the digital reunification and holistic study of dispersed terracotta figurines assemblages."

Concerning the topic of fragmentation applied to specific material production, statues and figurines, this chapter addresses the issue of analysing artefacts from ‘broken collections’ that are voluntarily dispersed.

The case study proposes a 3D digital approach that can virtually re-unify a ‘broken’ assemblage of ~2000 figurines from a rural open-air sanctuary at Ayia Irini (Cyprus) in order to study, analyse, and interpret it holistically.
