Research at the Dromolaxia-Vyzakia site (Hala Sultan Tekke)

APAC Labs researchers Sorin Hermon, Valentina Vassallo, Svetlana Gasanova and Rahaf Orabi were part of an international team of researchers working at Dromolaxia-Vyzakia (Hala Sultan Tekke) this summer.

In collaboration with the Department of Antiquities of Cyprus, the 2023 excavation season was carried out from May and June of this year and led by faculty from the University of Gothenburg Sweden.

The site of Dromolaxia-Vyzakia stretches along the coast of Alyki, Larnaca, near the Hala Sultan Tekke and Larnaca Airport. It was a port city in the Late Copper Age, covering at least 25 hectares, and flourished from 1630 to 1150 BCE.

APAC Labs supported the excavation with 2D and 3D documentation and material analysis.
