APAC Labs and A. G. Leventis Gallery celebrate International Museum Day with an interactive workshop

The A. G. Leventis Gallery invited the Andreas Pittas Art Characterisation Laboratories (APAC Labs) to present their research capacity in the study of art in celebration of International Museum Day on May 19th. This event highlighted the transformative potential of new technologies in the study and analysis of works of art and cultural heritage. APAC Labs are at the forefront of integrating innovative scientific and technological methods in art history, archaeology, and cultural heritage. Utilizing a broad and multiscale diagnostic approach, APAC Labs combine physiochemical methods with digital 2D/3D visualization and imaging technologies to gather comprehensive information on the conservation state, materials, techniques, and historical interventions of various artworks and monuments.

During the event at the A. G. Leventis Gallery, attendees had the unique opportunity to explore these advanced methodologies. Highlights included demonstrations of: 2- and 3D documentation and analysis, multispectral imaging, and RTI.

Visitors also had the chance to meet expert researchers from the Cyprus Institute’s laboratories. These specialists shared their knowledge and experiences, offering deeper insights into the applications and benefits of these advanced technologies in the field of cultural heritage.

APAC Labs’ collaboration with the A. G. Leventis Gallery provided an excellent opportunity to demonstrate how cutting-edge technologies can enhance our understanding and preservation of invaluable cultural heritage.
