APAC at the Journal of Cultural Heritage
APAC Labs researchers Sorin Hermon, Nikolas Bakirtzis and Svetlana Gasanova recently published an article in the Journal of Cultural Heritage titled: A Heritage Digital Twin ontology-based description of Giovanni Baronzio’s “Crucifixion of Christ” analytical investigation.
This article emphasises the need for a digital framework that integrates data from various disciplines and research groups, focusing on the documentation and virtual representation of heritage assets.
It proposes a semantic model called the Heritage Digital Twin ontology, built upon the existing Conceptual Reference Model (CRM) of cultural heritage documentation.
The authors use the example of a 13th-century Italian painting, the Crucifixion of Christ by Giovanni Baronzio, to illustrate the concept of a Heritage Digital Twin ontology and its associated knowledge graph.
The article also highlights the dynamic nature of heritage assets and the importance of accurately documenting their tangible and intangible properties.
