Nikolas Bakirtzis talk on “New Tools, Old Tales: Frontiers and Contexts for Heritage Research”


Last week Nikolas Bakirtzis, director of the Andreas Pittas Art Characterization Labs, delivered the talk “New Tools, Old Tales: Frontiers and Contexts for Heritage Research” to the Cyprus Institute community as part of their Colloquia series. Professor Bakirtizs shared some of APAC’s recent achievements, including the discovery of the artist’s signature on a 16th-century El Greco painting and part of an original wooden door at the Venetian-era Paphos gate in historic Nicosia. He highlighted the unique interdisciplinary pipeline and collaborative research environment of APAC Labs, sharing his plans for future research that will continue to address questions of materiality, technique, style, and provenance of historical objects and monuments.
