APAC in the 'International Data Aggregation for Archaeological Research and Heritage Management: the ARIADNE experience’ issue

APAC Labs researchers Valentina Vassallo and Avgoustinos Avgousti recently contributed to the publication of the article ‘Tools and Ontologies for the Aggregation and Management of Cypriot Archaeological Datasets in ‘Internet Archaeology’ the premier open access archaeology journal.

This publication is part of the issue "International Data Aggregation for Archaeological Research and Heritage Management: the ARIADNE experience’’.

This article focuses on the aggregation of Cypriot archaeological datasets, digitally archived in local repositories, into the ARIADNE portal. This endeavour involved developing an application profile for inscriptions and integrating two collections of ancient coins and inscriptions carved on stones.

It highlights the tools and ontologies developed for the aggregation and management of these digital resources, as well as the related pipeline and activities.
Thanks to these developed tools, a collection of Cypriot medieval coins and inscriptions are now more accessible to the archaeological community, fostering a deeper understanding of these rich cultural heritage artefacts.
