Interdisciplinary research at the UNESCO painted churches in the Troodos Region: Digital and Dendrochronological approaches
The Cyprus Institute is organizing an event focused on the digital documentation and dendrochronological studies of the ten UNESCO-listed churches of the Troodos region of Cyprus. During the lecture, new light will be shed on the hidden architectural features of the religious buildings and on the potential of the dendrochronological method to help the dating of their wooden heritage through the measuring of tree rings. A brief presentation of the method and preliminary results will provide an overview of our efforts to revisit the history and the archaeology of the important monuments with the help of science and technology.
