Nikolas Bakirtzis, director of the Andreas Pittas Art Characterization Labs will deliver the talk “Interdisciplinary Approaches to Medieval and Renaissance Art” to the Department of Fine Arts of the School of Fine and Applied Arts at the Cyprus University of Technology.
Professor Bakirtizs will discuss how innovative scientific and technological methods have revitalized the study of Medieval and Renaissance art and architecture and how interdisciplinary approaches have enriched our knowledge about the techniques and materials used by great painters such as Titian and El Greco (Doménikos Theotokópoulos). At the same time, these scientific and digital methodologies have contributed to the study of important monuments in Cyprus, such as the famous churches of Troodos, which are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
During the talk, he will present APAC’s recent achievements at the Science and Technology in Archaeology and Culture Research Center of The Cyprus Institute.
