Description: The overall objective of the project is to gain a better understanding on the evolution of dietary habits and consequent technological developments in food processing at the beginning of the modern humans journey into Eurasia. The adopted approach highlights the innovative aspect of integrating traditional and well-established investigation methods developed throughout the years by Russian scientists such as S.A Semenov and focusing at tracing use wear remains on food processing tools through microscopic and experimental methods with state-of-the-art methodologies in 3D shape analysis and surfac rugosity characterisation matured at The Cyprus Institute, coupled with modern invetigation methods of organic residues, based on Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), digital miscroscopy and Scanning Electron microscopy.
