Athanasios joined the Cyprus Institute in May 2017 after receiving his Master’s Degrees in History (2015) and Religious Studies (2012) from the Alexandria Center for Hellenistic Studies, Bibliotheca Alexandria and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, respectively, and his Bachelor Degree in Religious Studies (2006) from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. His main research interest focus on the areas of religion, history and archaeology, especially of the Graeco-Roman and Early Christian eras in Eastern Mediterranean. During his studies he had the chance to participate in numerous projects, allowing him the opportunity to become increasingly engaged in the effective application of technology in the study, analysis and dissemination of archaeological material and sources.


Research interests: Religion, History & Archaeology of Late Antiquity, Cultural Heritage, Digital Humanities, Innovation in Cultural Heritage
