Nicolette Vollero Levy joined the Cyprus Institute in 2021 as an MSc student in Digital Cultural Heritage. She holds a joint BA in Art History, Classical Studies, and Business and an MA in Medieval Art History from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Since arriving in Cyprus, Nicolette has brought her art historical perspective to a number of projects within APAC. She has engaged with research projects on Byzantine icons and medieval wall paintings and is especially interested in the history and decoration of the Troodos churches. Her MSc thesis offers a thorough analysis 13th-century vita icons of St. John Lampadistis from his monastery in Kalopanagiotis using both technical and art historical methods of documentation and interpretation. Nicolette plans to apply this integrated methodology to more Cypriot icons in her PhD thesis, which will build upon her previous research.
