Raphael joined the Cyprus Institute as a PhD student in August 2020 after graduating with a Master Degree in Analytical Chemistry (2019) and a Bachelor Degree in Physics and Chemistry (2017) at the University of Nantes, in France.

All along with his studies, he kept close contact with the study of Cultural Heritage through various internships within different French laboratories (CReAAH, Arc’Antic, and C2RMF). His major activity focuses on the use and development of analytical devices, combining various spectroscopic techniques such as X-Ray Fluorescence, Photoluminescence, or Optical Reflectance. The treatment and understanding of the large amount of data gathered with such devices is another central point of his work, as it provides numerous clues leading to a deeper understanding of the stakes of cultural heritage material comprehension.

Research interests: Hyper Spectral Imaging, Macro Fluorescence X, Reflectance Spectroscopy, Data treatment and coupling, Instrumental development
